Core Teaching
The root illusion of human suffering is separation — the feeling of being a
distinct self, isolated from other beings, from nature, and from the sacred
ground of existence. The mind divides so it can define; it draws borders
between “me” and “you,” “mine” and “yours,” “believer” and “unbeliever.” In
truth, there are no such borders except those we imagine. Life is one movement
expressing itself through countless forms. The tree and the breath that feeds
upon it, the river and the body it nourishes, the giver and receiver — all are
one process. This
false sense of isolation is what gives rise to fear, pride, and conflict. The
ego survives by emphasizing difference, yet awareness sees only unity. When you
awaken from the dream of separation, you discover that compassion is not a
virtue you practise; it is your natural state when you see clearly. You begin
to move through life not as a fragment struggling for survival, but as a
conscious expression of the whole.
Practical Exercise
Today, as you meet others — whether in person, online, or in passing — take one
brief moment to see beyond appearance. Look not at gender, status, or role, but
at the shared awareness shining through the eyes before you. Say inwardly, “The
same life that lives in me lives in you.”
Practise this silently with strangers, even those you dislike or fear. Notice
how this subtle shift dissolves tension. If you can remember this truth even
for a few seconds in a difficult encounter, the illusion begins to crack.
Aim: To
sense unity beneath the surface differences that divide us.
Life Example
In recent decades, humanity has become more connected than ever — global trade,
travel, communication — yet the feeling of isolation has deepened. Online
networks link billions of people while loneliness rises to epidemic levels.
Nations divide over belief, race, and ideology. Refugees are turned away by
those who share the same basic hopes: safety, food, belonging.
This is the dream of separation at work — the madness of “us and them.” Every
war begins with forgetting that we are one family wearing different faces.
Awareness restores this memory. To look upon another and truly see yourself is
the beginning of healing for the world.
Universal Teaching
Jesus expressed this truth with luminous simplicity: “Whatever you do to the
least of these, you do to Me.” He was not speaking of religion but of
recognition — that the divine lives equally in all forms of life. The Buddha
said the same in another way: “In all beings, see yourself, and do not
harm.” Across traditions, the awakened ones speak one language: love born
of seeing oneness. To live from this vision is to end conflict at its root.
Key Points to Remember
– Separation is a thought, not reality.
– The same life animates every form.
– Seeing unity dissolves judgment and fear.
– Every act of kindness heals the illusion of division.
– Presence reveals that there is no “other.”
